Townville VFD Apparatus

Engine 17 

Engine 17 is a 1992 Pierce / International 4 door Commercial Pumper. It carries 1250 gallons of water and has a 1250 gallon per minute pump. Engine 17 also carries 1200 feet of 3 inch supply hose, 400 feet of preconnected 1.75 inch attack lines, and a 250 foot 2.5 inch rear preconnected attack line.  Other equipment includes a 150 foot booster reel for brush and small fires, an assortment of ground ladders, and other forcible entry and ventilation tools. Engine 17 seats 5 firefighters and has 4 jump seats with airpacks.

Engine 17-1

Engine 17-1 is a 2001 E-One / International 2 door commercial pumper. Engine 17-1 carries 1250 gallons of water and has a 1250 gallon per minute pump. It has a top mount pump panel and carries 1200 feet of 5 inch supply line (LDH). Engine 17-1 has 400 feet of 1.75 inch speedlays and a 200 foot 2.5 inch rear preconnected attack line. The truck  is set up for response to vehicle fires and motor vehicle accidents by utilizing the front 2.5 discharge which is gated down to two 1.75 inch discharges. One of these is utilized as an attack line. This engine also acts as water supply for E-17 and has the capability to not only draft and relay pump, but also be used as a tanker because of its 6 inch jet dump.  Finally, E-17-1 has a 150 foot rear booster line for grass/brush fires.

Engine 17-1 is first due on motor vehicle accidents, vehicle fires, and brush fires. 

17-1 is second due on structure fires and acts as the supply pumper to E-17


ENGINE 17-2

Engine 17-2 is a 1967 Ford American Lafrance Pumper. It has a 750 gallon tank and 750 gallon per minute pump, and was the first fire truck in the Townville community. It acted as the first out Engine for many years until the arrival of E-17 in the summer of 1992. Engine 17-2 mainly responds to brush fires, but also can still be an effective pumper on structure fires if needed. The truck has two 200' booster reels and two 150' rear preconnected attack lines. It also carries a variety of tools and equipment.

E-17-2 responds to brush fires and as needed to major incidents where an additional Engine Company is needed.


Tanker 17

Tanker 17 is a 1987 International / EEI Tanker. Tank capacity is 2500 gallons and has a 1000 gallon per minute pump. Tanker 17 also has a 6 inch jet dump and carries a 2500 gallon drop tank that can be deployed to act as a holding tank for its water while the truck refills. Additional equipment includes two 1.75" preconnected attack lines, one 2.5 " attack line, and 500' of 3" supply line. This truck also has other various tools and equipment for rural water supply operations.

Tanker 17 is 3rd due on structure fires and responds as needed on any incident where additional water is needed.

Grass 17

Grass 17 is a 1984 Chevrolet 4x4 grass truck that is on permanent loan from the SC Forestry Commission. It has a Briggs and Stratton pump and carries 280 gallons of water. The truck also carries 200' of light-weight booster hose to access fires off the roadway, and has an 1.5 inch discharge for fighting fires from the bed of the truck.  Grass 17 also carries rakes, pressurized water extinguishers, and a chain saw for debris removal. 

Grass 17 is 2nd due to grass/brush fires and responds to other incidents as needed.
